Chinese New Year Chingay Parade 2011

This year's Chinese New Year Chingay Parade, one of the grandest ever, got off to a fiery start last night as a fire-spewing dragon float, colourful performers and a spectacular firework display lit up the F1 Pit Building in Singapore's Marina Bay.

Get to Sentosa on Foot via the Sentosa Boardwalk!

The newly opened $70 million Sentosa Boardwalk offers visitors an alternative way to get to Sentosa Island. Visitors can now take a 10 minute stroll across 700 metres of timber planks. The Sentosa Boardwalk is also lined with five pairs of canopy-covered travellators.

What is so Wonder Full at the Marina Bay Sands?

The Marina Bay Sands will soon debut its very own multimedia show, Wonder Full, at the Marina Bay Promenade. Wonder Full is a laser show that will take audiences on a moving journey through life. Making use of lasers, LED lights, surround sound systems, high-definition projections and giant water screens, Wonder Full is projected to attract up to 7000 people nightly to the Marina Bay Sands. 

Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort Reopens

Formerly known as the Rasa Sentosa Resort, the renamed Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort located on Sentosa Island reopend on January 18 this year. After spending a whopping $80 million on a facelift, the popular beach front resort now features panorama rooms which have great views of the South China Sea. Additionally, deluxe suites are now equipped with private outdoor jacuzzis. 

Thaipusam Festival

On January 20, Hindu devotees will take to the streets in a spectacular procession (a walk of faith) to seek blessings, fulfil vows and offer thanks in honour of Lord Subrahmanya (also known as Lord Murugan). As the destroyer of evil, Lord Murugan represents virtue, youth and power to Hindu devotees. 

Chinese New Year Festive Bazaar at Chinatown!

The annual festive bazaar in Chinatown is here once again as we usher in Chinese New Year! Numerous people congregate here year after year to shop for items for the home, festive goodies and gifts. The bazaar will happen from January 14 till February 2, with Pagoda, Temple, Smith, Sago and Trengganu streets blocked off to traffic during certain times of the day. 

Musicals in Town this New Year!

Two highly acclaimed musicals will be premiering in Singapore this January - the Rocky Horror Show and Carmen the musical. Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror show is a cult classic that was first performed in London in 1973. The original run lasted almost 3000 performances. In the decades since, it has been revived at various venues around the world. Get your tickets now for a night of fear and laughter!

World's First ArtScience Museum to Open at Marina Bay Sands

Come February 17 2011, the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort will chalk up yet another milestone in an already long list of accolades. It will be home to the world's first ArtScience Museum. The 50 000 sq ft museum will span 21 galleries featuring exhibits in the fields of media and technology, design and architecture, arts and sciences. 

Gardens by the Sentosa Bay to Open January 2011

Beginning January 29, pedestrians to Sentosa can enjoy a scenic and leisurely stroll. The 700m boardwalk is packed with green spaces, rest stops and unblocked views of the Sentosa bay. 

There are five themed gardens representing the tropical landscapes unique to Singapore: mangrove, rock garden, terrain and hill, coastal flora and rainforest. Approximately 130 plant species adorn the gardens, which also has seating spaces for pedestrians to enjoy the surroundings. Two retail and four F&B outlets are set to open along the boardwalk as well.
