Thaipusam Festival

On January 20, Hindu devotees will take to the streets in a spectacular procession (a walk of faith) to seek blessings, fulfil vows and offer thanks in honour of Lord Subrahmanya (also known as Lord Murugan). As the destroyer of evil, Lord Murugan represents virtue, youth and power to Hindu devotees.

The 4.5 kilometer procession march takes place from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple on Serangoon Road to the Sri Thandayuthapani Temple on Tank Road. Upon arriving at their destination, the devotees end their spiritual journey by offering milk they have been carrying to Lord Murugan. You'll want to line the streets of Little India on this day to take in the sights and sounds of this colourful and rhythmic procession.
