Double Helix Bridge at Marina Bay Sands - A World's First

On April 24 2010, the double helix bridge at the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort (IR) will be opened to the public. This curved pedestrian bridge marks yet another first for Singapore, after the opening of Universal Studios Singapore just over a month ago. The bridge itself, being the first curved helix bridge, is an engineering feat which took two years to complete. Besides the great architectural and engineering precision involved, the bridge is made of special stainless steel that does not corrode.

The 280 metre long bridge is a direct link from the floating platform on Marina Bay to the Marina Bay Sands IR. While strolling along the bridge, pedestrians can take the opportunity to admire the city skyline and the bridge's structure. The bridge will also be lighted at night, with changeable colours reflecting varying moods.

At the moment, this momentous architectural design has not been named yet.
