Over the recent Mother's Day weekend, I checked into the Festive Hotel at the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), one of two Integrated Resorts (IR) in Singapore.

Marina Bay Sands Welcomes Its First Visitors

Singapore's second integrated resort, Marina Bay Sands (MBS) finally opened its doors to the public on 27 April 2010, the precursor to the grand opening slated for June 23. This further boosts the city's tourism sector after the opening of Resorts World Sentosa in February. According to the Las Vegas Sands, the developing company behind this project, an expected 70 000 to 80 000 people will visit MBS daily! 

Marina Pedestrian Bridge Named "The Helix"

It was announced on 24 April 2010 that the pedestrian bridge at Marina Bay would be named "The Helix". The Helix will be part of a 3.5 kilometre continuous waterfront promenade around Marina Bay and serves as a connector between the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and the Bayfront area. 

There is also an adjacent vehicular bridge just beside The Helix which will be named the Bayfront Bridge. This bridge is a vehicular link from the Marina South area and Marina Centre. This bridge will open on 25 April 2010.  

Double Helix Bridge at Marina Bay Sands - A World's First

On April 24 2010, the double helix bridge at the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort (IR) will be opened to the public. This curved pedestrian bridge marks yet another first for Singapore, after the opening of Universal Studios Singapore just over a month ago. The bridge itself, being the first curved helix bridge, is an engineering feat which took two years to complete.

Sri Mariamman Temple Sports a New Look

Sri Mariamman Temple in Chinatown is Singapore's oldest Hindu temple. On 11 April 2010, there will be a grand opening ceremony to unveil the temple's new look after renovations on the temple columns, murals and inner sanctums. This latest round of renovations saw some 20 artists from India flown in by the redevelopment committee to work on the 184-year temple. 

Tourist Levels Soared in February 2010

February 2010 was the third month running that visitor levels to Singapore have increased. Ever since the mini revival of the world economy as a whole in late 2009, the Singapore has enjoyed soaring tourist numbers. A large proportion of tourist hailed from China, Malaysia and Taiwan in February. 13 of the top 15 markets for tourists to Singapore also registered positive growth levels.

Singapore F1 Grand Prix Tickets now up for Sale!

The 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix will be held on 24, 25, and 26 September. Tickets have been on sale since 1 March, with early bird discounts ending on 30 April. If you are an ardent F1 fan, take this opportunity to snap up your early bird tickets! For Singaporeans and those living in Singapore, tickets can be purchased at all SISTIC and selected SingPost outlets.

April 27- Marina Bay Sands Opens its Doors

Singapore's second Integrated Resort, Marina Bay Sands, will being opening in phases on April 27. Much like Resorts World Sentosa that has adopted phases openings, Marina Bay Sands first phase will include the casino, 963 hotel rooms, certain restaurants and retail outlets. Phase two is slated for opening on June 23, when the SkyPark and additional retail outlets open. Phase One will also see the IR hosting its first event at the convention centre. 

Universal Studios Singapore will Open on March 18

At long last, Asia's first Universal Studios Theme Park at the Resorts World Sentosa IR will open on March 18 at 8.28am. However, as the park continues its efforts to fine-tune the attractions, RWS has stated park visitors will be compensated for the unavailability of rides with S$15 shopping and dining vouchers. As March 18 marks the preview opening of Universal Studios, there will be a cap on the number of park visitors. 

Luxury Nightclub Pangaea to Open at Marina Bay Sands

The popular American nightclub, Pangaea, will open its first Asian outlet at the Marina Bay Sands IR. It is known that the nightclub will be sited on one of two floating crystal pavilions on the waters of Marina Bay. The opening of Pangaea will be a great addition to the nightlife scene that has been thriving in recent years.
