Chek Jawa

Nestled on the eastern most tip of Pulau Ubin is Chek Jawa, a unique coastal habitat. You will find mangroves, sandy beaches, coastal forests and lagoons all packed within 1 square kilometer. It is most common for locals and tourists to rent a bicycle on Pulau Ubin and subsequently bike towards Chek Jawa.

Chek Jawa is home to an exquisite variety of plants and wildlife, some of which are endangered and extremely rare. There are boardwalks all along this coastal habitat, so be sure to stay on them for safety purposes and also to conserve the precious environment. It is advisable for visitors to make a trip to Chek Jawa during low tide, as there is so much more to view.

Getting There

Getting to Pulau Ubin is a mere 15-minute bumboat ride from Changi Ferry Terminal. Making your way to the ferry terminal is easy. Take a train to Tanah Merah MRT station, then take bus service 2 all the way to Changi Village interchange. You can walk to the ferry terminal from here.

Bumboat rides cost S$2 per passenger. Your driver will only depart once 12 passengers are on board. Hence, expect to wait anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes before departure. However, for express service, you can pay the balance of S$24 for immediate departure.
