The Suburbs

In recent years, numerous shopping centres, even giant chains such as IKEA have sprung up in neighbourhoods all over Singapore. As a result, once sleepy neighborhoods have been livened up. Such malls are usually well-patronized by the residents living in the surrounding neighborhood.

There are numerous shopping malls located amongst housing estates and neighbourhoods away from the popularised civic district or orchard road. The list below is not an exhaustive one, featuring only the more prominent malls.

Suburban Malls

Tampines

Tampines Mall - A leading suburban mall for residents living in the Eastern and North-eastern regions of the country, this mall offers shopping, dining and entertainment under one roof.

Tampines One - A new generation mall for mainly the young and savvy, full of modern retail outlets and even a dedicated swimming pool!

Getting There: Both these malls are located just next to the Tampines MRT station.

Marine Parade

Parkway Parade - Singapore's 1st major suburban mall has been delighting shoppers for the last 20 years. Boasting the largest range of stores on the East Coast, you will definitely be spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping or dining.

Getting There: There is a shuttle bus service from Bedok MRT station to Parkway Parade departing every 20 minutes. The last pick-up from Bedok is 8pm daily.

Harbourfront

Vivocity - Singapore's largest retail and lifestyle mall. Full of waterfront promenades and wide open shopping walkways, it promises an enjoyable shopping experience.

Getting There: The mall is directly connected from the basement to Harbourfront MRT station.

Ang Mo Kio

AMK Hub - Built to rejuvenate the town centre of Ang Mo Kio, AMK hub is yet another suburban mall to offer huge entertainment, dining and shopping opportunities.

Getting There: AMK hub is directly linked to the Ang Mo Kio MRT station via the basement. Additionally, the air-conditioned bus interchange is co-located with the mall as well.

Jurong

Jurong Point - This is Singapore's largest suburban retail mall, with over 450 retail outlets catering to a targeted 3 million visitors a month. Jurong Point is the mall of choice in the Western region, with the latest expansion including a 610 unit condominium above the retail portion.

Getting There: The mall is adjacent to Boon Lay MRT station and bus interchange.

Woodlands

Causeway Point - Located in the heart of the Woodlands Regional Centre, this mall attracts up to 2 million shoppers per month. Much like all other suburban malls, Causeway Point aims to be all-encompassing, offering everything from movies to dining to electronics.

Getting There: Alight at Woodlands MRT station. The mall is just next to the station.

Serangoon

Nex - Yet another all-inclusive heartland mall to open in the rejuvenated Serangoon central area. Do check out the SkyGarden, a family park which includes a kid's playground and a K9 dog park. 

Getting There: Alight at Serangoon MRT station. The mall is a short walk away. 

City Square Mall - Singapore's first eco-mall, a shopping mall integrated with an urban park named City Green, which aims to educate the public on the natural environment. 

Getting There: Alight at Farrer Park MRT station. Proceed to Exit I.
