The River Safari nature park in Mandai is set to open in early 2012, which will further boost the allure of the area, with the world-acclaimed Singapore Zoo and Night Safari already sited there. Nestled between the 2 existing parks, the S$180 million River Safari will be home to over 500 species of animals as well as 2 giant pandas (diplomacy gifts from China) arriving next year. Though this attraction is substantially smaller than the zoo and the night safari, it is expected to draw approximately 820 000 visitors annually. 

Visitors will get to experience 10 different river ecosystems from around the world and get to view exotic vegetation and animals. These include a boat ride through the "Amazon", a frozen tundra exhibit, a climate controlled enclosure specially for the 2 giant pandas arriving next year and many more attractions.
