The Asian Civilisations Museum is the 1st of its kind in the South-East Asian region to put on display a different view of the rich ethnic diversity and culture of Singapore. When our ancestors settled on this island 2 centuries ago, they brought along their ancient cultures. This aspect of Singapore’s history is thus, the focus of the ACM. The Museum’s collection, therefore, centers on the material cultures of different groups originating from China, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia.

Currently, the ACM is home to 11 galleries showcasing more than 1000 artifacts from Chinese and Asian civilizations. In addition, there are special exhibitions throughout the year. A visit to the ACM will certainly broaden your perspective on the ancient cultures of the Chinese, Malay and Indian communities. The Hindu-Buddhist gallery is definitely a highlight, with its well-lit showcases, including a large Burmese Buddha head.
