Hotel Intercontinental Singapore is situated right beside Bugis MRT station(subway), a convenient location. It offers something different from the many hotels in the City Hall area and the Orchard area. For one, it is opposite Bugis Street, a market hawking everything from souvenirs to fashion items. Do take note that in most cases you will have to bargain. Hotel Intercontinental Singapore is also within walking distance of Sim Lim Square, the place where locals go to purchase computer components and to assemble a personal computer. When you are there, beware of shops selling electronic goods that do not list their prices.
The national library embodies Singapore’s emphasis on education, and it is just across the road from the hotel. If you desire shopping malls, there is no lack of them as Bugis Junction is just beside the hotel, and the newly-built Illuma is opposite. In any case, it is just a short MRT ride to Singapore’s other attractions. Although it is a little less convenient than hotels at City Hall, one advantage is that the eateries opposite the hotel nestled in the shophouses offer excellent food, such as steamboat and dessert.
The rooms at Hotel Intercontinental are functionable and spacious, although certainly not the best of 5-star hotels. The design of the hotel itself is inspired by the Peranakan culture and is certainly pleasing to the eye. There is a gym, a swimming pool and a rooftop garden.
In conclusion, I would say the location and the aesthetics of the hotel are the prime factors for choosing Hotel Intercontinental Singapore.
