The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Singapore is all about understated elegance. Located next to Marina Square Shopping Centre and within walking distance of City Hall MRT station, it is convenient.
The exterior has a distinctive shape at the back, and although the exterior may not look modern, some of the rooms boast beautiful harbour and city views through floor-to-ceiling windows, and are luxurious. Breakfast at the hotel is almost universally recognised to be excellent, as is service. It is located close to attractions such as the Singapore Flyer (big ferris wheel) and assorted museums.
There are plenty of shopping and dining options, although the food courts within the shopping malls are the best bet for local fare for the City Hall area. You might want to head to Bugis or Chinatown and avoid the malls if you’re intent on tasting local food. Tennis courts are available in addition to the standard gym and swimming pool.
So far so good, you may think. Where’s the catch? Well a stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Singapore does not come cheap.
