The food centre along Old Airport Road has been around for a long time. These days, after a recent renovation, the prices of the food has gone up slightly. However, this has not deterred many locals from making a trip down to enjoy the variety of good food here. Weekend evenings are when the food centre is most crowded, so it’s best for you to drop by on a weekday. After undergoing renovation, the food centre is now much airer and the tables are placed comfortably far apart, giving customers more space.
If you have appetite for only 1 dish, it would be highly recommended for you to order Fried Kway Teow from the “Lau Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow” stall. This famous stall has been around since before the renovation and you sometimes have to wait for up to 45 minutes before it’s your turn to order. This is due to the cook’s insistence on cooking by the plate, instead of cooking in bulk. This way, the quality of the Fried Kway Teow is absolutely wonderful, which justifies the rather long wait.
Although there are several BBQ chicken wing stalls, there is one stall that sells chicken wings for 90 cents per wing, cheaper than others. The wings are not over-barbequed and the meat is extremely tender. A worthwhile dish to complement your meal.
Besides the above mentioned dishes, you’ll find, just like in any other food centre, almost similar varieties of local food.
