More affectionately known as SAM, the Singapore Art Museum aims to preserve and present the art histories and contemporary art practices of Singapore and the Southeast Asian region. At the moment, it boasts the world’s largest collection of Southeast Asian artworks.
Besides its native permanent exhibitions, the SAM frequently co-curates exhibitions and shows with other museums in the region and around the world. It also has ties to some of the world’s best known museums like the Louvre museum, Guggenheim and Shanghai Art museum. As Singapore rapidly establishes herself as a global centre for the arts, such international ties serve to channel ideas and knowledge to invigorate an ever expanding arts scene.
With its exciting array of both current local exhibitions and international travelling exhibitions, the Singapore Art Museum more than caters for visitors seeking a great afternoon of art appreciation.
